The mandala is an
artistic design used for focusing and contemplation during meditation.
The centre radiates outward with colours and shapes in all directions as
if to infinity. The symbolism represents the relationship of one’s soul to
the universe. Many ancient cultures treated mandalas as sacred objects or
Yantras, while today they are used as a part of alternative therapy and
meditation.

In Psychyl, db are using the principles of the mandala in a new way for
meditation, called the "meditative art sequence". Here, mandalas are
sequenced over time with harmonized colours and rhythms of shapes, like a
song. This is combined with music and neuro-acoustics tuned to theta
brainwave frequencies and harmonized to the meditative art sequence. The
result is a new art form with properties of the mandala, timed with
meditative music and brainwave science, compiled into a 30 minute
meditation session.
The following Mandalas are the key-images used to create the meditative
art sequences on Psychyl Volumes 1-4 DVDs. These mandalas are
derivatives from the corresponding 4 Psychyl paintings shown in the
Psychyl Fine Art Gallery. There are hundreds of Mandalas here, which we hope you
enjoy. Perhaps there are a few that will harmonize with you.
